Why I walked the runway for Victoria’s Secret
Walking the VS runway wasn’t an easy decision for me—here’s why I said yes, despite my doubts, and what it meant to me to take that step. 💕✨
LIFE | Seoul searching, self-love, |
Seoul, Korea
Hey, beautiful!
I'm so excited to finally launch this newsletter and connect with you all on an (even) more personal level. Whether you've been following me for years or are just joining the ride, I'm really glad you’re here. This is where I’ll be spilling all the behind-the-scenes tea and sharing pics from my recent trips that didn’t make it to socials—get ready for the good stuff!
Life has been a whirlwind lately, from traveling to South Korea and hitting the runway to prepping for the holidays. October also marked another trip around the sun for me. I celebrated with close friends and family at a Beetlejuice-themed house party, and it was a very dark, sexy reminder of how grateful I am for all the love in my life.
Seoul Searching
I took a girls' trip to Seoul, and it was a feast for the senses—the ideal blend of bonding, bopping around, and going to bed early so we could wake up and do it all over again. There's something so fulfilling about immersing myself in the history and culture of a place. And the hospitality in South Korea is like nothing I’d ever experienced before.
My girls and I explored Gwangjang Market, Ikseon-Dong, and the Bukchon Hanok Village, and visited the stunning Gyeongbokgung Palace and Lotte World Tower, South Korea’s tallest building. I fell in love with a spot called Wappen Shop, where I DIYed the most adorable tote bag. We indulged in incredible food from Kwonsooksoo and Samwon Garden, stood in line for salt bread at Jayeondo, and ate our way through noodle houses and fish markets. Bulgogi beef, Bibimbap, kimchi-jjigae, buchimgae…we did not have a bad meal the entire trip! And while Sake's not really my thing, I did get down with some delicious Korean beers, like Terra and Cass.
DIY tote bags + tourist mode in Seoul = the perfect combo
K-Beauty Obsessed
When we weren’t eating or drinking, we were steeping ourselves in Korean beauty culture. I totally leaned into the serums, lotions, and sunscreens. And let me tell you, it is infinitely better than what we're doing in America. I’m not a Botox or filler girl, but I got a bunch of rejuvenating facials—one of my favorites was the Pink Aestrogen Peel, a hydrating treatment that left my skin plump and glowy.
I also may have developed a teeny-tiny obsession with Olive Young, a kind of K-beauty Sephora. I loved that you could describe a skin issue, and they’d take you right to the best products. I went three times and brought home a ton of sheet masks.

What’s “Perfect”?
In South Korea, the dedication to looking “perfect” doesn’t stop at skincare; plastic surgery is also super popular, with women (and teenage girls) reshaping their faces to get a desired slim, narrow look. I’m always interested in learning how different cultures approach beauty and the pressures associated with conforming to unrealistic standards. This trip was life-changing, and it gave me a lot to think about.
The pressure to look a certain way hits all of us, no matter where we come from. But we have to remember that true beauty radiates from the soul. It reflects our inner qualities, values, and character. True confidence is the embodiment of kindness, compassion, empathy, and authenticity—all traits that describe Korean culture.
Fresh cut, K-pop vibes, and feeling myself ✨
Runway Representation
Speaking of confidence, it was an honor to walk in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. I'm not gonna lie, I had mixed feelings about it. Growing up, it wasn't on my radar; I felt like Victoria’s Secret didn't care about women who looked like me. But I said yes because I wanted to represent those who don't typically see themselves on the runway.
I knew people would have strong opinions, both positive and negative. But I'm so glad I did it. I want young women to feel empowered in their bodies, no matter how different they look from the person next to them. No matter how much cellulite or loose skin, or how many children they've had. I did it for that young girl who needs to see someone like her in those spaces.

MONTHLY | my musings |
A Bible verse I love
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
A thought I’ve been reflecting on
The moment you get a gut feeling about someone or a situation, act on it. Don't let politeness or second-guessing hold you back from making moves that could change your life. You take control of your future by trusting your instincts.
A movie I just watched
Martha, on Netflix. I love documentaries—in fact, I’m married to a documentarian! Watching Martha Stewart’s life play out on screen was super encouraging. It inspired me to keep going, branch out, and do as much as I can with the time I have now. She’s a true renaissance woman!
A new goal for my bucket list
Broadway!
A cause or charity close to my heart
Room to Grow, a program providing families with the resources needed throughout a child’s first three years of life.
Until Next Time… I’ll check in next month—in the meantime, I'll be prepping for the holidays (and a family trip to Jamaica!). I’m looking forward to telling you all about it, so stay tuned. And make sure to follow me on Instagram for all behind-the-scenes peeks. I want to see your adventures, too! With love, |
